Style and shape of bathtubs: which one should be chosen?

The bathtub has always been loved by people who like bathing in hot water and relaxing before going to bed or anytime during the day. The attention payed to modern living and housing needs has led interior designers to consider the bathtub an essential fixture, so much so that it comes under the spotlight especially when we talk about bathrooms or relaxation areas in private houses. This fashion trend suggests freestanding bathtubs for well-furnished, striking and comfortable bathrooms. That’s why they are produced in different shapes and styles by almost all sanitary ware manufacturers.

Choosing a bathtub, including standalone or back-to-wall samples, depends on several factors which are: the size of the room, model, material, shape and style. However, it is very important to start from a well-studied project in order to create a bathroom with a unique atmosphere where the bathtub expresses aesthetics and functionality. The bathtubs produced by Kerasan are the result of famous designers’ creativity and aim at fulfilling every customer's need thanks to their excellence.

Freestanding bathtubs

Standalone bathtubs are a good alternative to make better use of space especially in large bathrooms or to create a real relaxation area in the house, perhaps combined with jacuzzi or chromotherapy systems. The freestanding bathtub is a new solution that requires specific plumbing; in case of renovation, it is necessary to understand, before buying, if there are the conditions for its installation and if the plumbing complies with a drainage system.

The market offers freestanding bathtubs in original shapes: oval, elliptical, square, rectangular or round. They are more requested in comparison with more classic shapes because they define the style of the bathroom thanks to their esthetic quality. This goal can also be achieved by considering the material they are made of. In addition to ceramic ware, that remains the most beautiful and fascinating material used in the production of sanitary fixtures and bathtubs, there are many models made of resin and other new solid surface materials that ensure high-quality and originality.

Shapes and styles of bathtubs

The shape and style of a bathtub are essential to enhance the environment and define its distinctive traits. Simple bathtubs, those without any sharp edges or those inspired by the past like the roll top baths are the best solution for a contemporary style bathroom, in which high standards of comfort and great elegance are required. On the other hand, rectangular or square bathtubs are more suitable for minimal style relaxation areas and small bathrooms.

New materials for bathtubs

Kerasan offers resin and acrylic bathtubs. The former is a new material that ensures the same fruition of ceramics but, it allows to produce the most varied types of bathtubs for added toughness, cleanliness and sanitation. The latter is a chemical compound that can be easily moulded and shaped in order to produce original and unconventional bathtubs of architectural design.

Usually the acrylic sheet is insulated with Glass Reinforced Polyester which ensures smooth surfaces and preserves the original colour over time for an everlasting, new-looking bathroom. A layer of anti-microbial finish applied to the surface makes the bathtub easy-to-clean.

Moreover, acrylic is also an insulating material that helps to keep the water at the same temperature while bathing. Acrylic bathtubs do not turn yellow over time so that their aesthetic features remain unaltered. The G&M polimineral bathtubs by Kerasan can be square or round, whilst the Tribeca bathtub has a rectangular shape with rounded edges. The Waldforf bathtub, instead, with its retro style, clearly shows the ductility of these new materials which ensure more functionality and higher quality.
